Jack In The Box Now Selling Cinnamon-Dusted Cronuts

As if it wasn't weird enough seeing Cronut knockoffs in Chinese airports, now Jack In The Box has jumped on the bandwagon. Starting tomorrow, the San Diego-based fast food chain will debut three new breakfast items, one of which is inspired by New York pastry chef Dominique Ansel's popular hybrid.
For those who have somehow managed to steer clear of the pastry that swept the world, the cronut is a cross between a croissant and a donut. There have been plenty of bakeries here in L.A. doing their own renditions, some better than others.
Jack's cinnamon sugar-dusted croissant donut come in one and three piece orders. (Because why not super-size an order of donuts?) According to the press release, going back for seconds is encouraged. They go for $0.89 for 1-piece and $1.99 for 3-piece, quite a bit cheaper than the New York bakery's $5 per price tag. And they are not calling them cronuts, which is wise, because Ansel already owns the trademark here and several other countries.
Jack in the Box is also launching some new breakfast burritos—including one that contains bacon, ham and sausage together in one wrap—that will come with spicy Sriracha sauce on the side. Someone in the marketing department is definitely watching the food blogs. Can we just be done with this trend now please?
