Sly Stallone and Other Actors Who Reprised Their Roles in Super Bowl Commercials
Matthew Broderick's reprisal of his role as Ferris Bueller in a Super Bowl commercial attracted a lot of attention this year. Movie stars and movie references are a staple of the Super Bowl commercials, but having a movie star reprise his/her role is a little rarer (and reprising it decades later is certainly unusual) so here are a few others we dug up from the archives.
Sly Stallone showed up in the ring with the "Rocky" theme soaring in the background in this United Way commercial from 1983:
OK, this one is sort of a stretch, because HAL from "2001: A Space Odyssey" wasn't really an actor, but the creepy computer voice shills for Bud Light in this 1986 commercial:
Sometimes Super Bowl commercials were inspired movies, but at least one Super Bowl commercials turned into a full-length movies like "Space Jam." Here's the 1993 commercial that predated the 1996 movie:
Pierce Brosnan was not reprising a role (as an earlier post said), but it looks like he was dress-rehearsing for his future role as James Bond in this 1987 commercial for Diet Coke:
