The suspect apprehended by LAPD SWAT Sunday morning in East Hollywood in connection with the brutal attack on Bryan Stow on opening day at Dodger Stadium has been identified by authorities as 31-year-old Giovanni Ramirez, a Hispanic male from Los Angeles, according to a LAPD News Release.

He was taken into custody on May 22 at 7:10 a.m., in the 800 block of North Mariposa Avenue and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held on one million dollars bail, notes the release.

Says the L.A. Times:

The suspect in custody has at least three prior convictions, a source close to the investigation said. He was convicted of attempted robbery in 1998, robbery in 1999, and firing a weapon in a public place in 2005, according to the source.
Authorities suspect the man was trying to cover up the neck tattoo described by witnesses, as the parolee "had recently added several tattoos which covered most of his neck," according to a source, reports the L.A. Times.
