LAst Night's Action: Quick Sands Wings
LA Kings defeat Detroit Red Wings 5-0. If there was ever a time when the score doesn’t indicate what went on in this game, it’s this one.
The Kings were utterly dominated by the Wings through two periods giving up 38 shots-on-goal, 26 in the second period alone, while getting only 17. Yet there they were leading 2-0 thanks to Jonathan Quick dominant performance in the net. Oh and there were Wayne Simmonds’ first period goal at 13:27 and Oscar Moller’s second period goal at 13:39 thanks to defensemen shooting the puck to the net.
The Kings got some separation in the third period when they actually dominated for a spell with Anze Kopitar’s goals at 23 seconds and 2:59. Jack Johnson, in perhaps his best performance on the ice since Drew Doughty got back from his concussion, got the final goal on a power-play at 6:03 sending the fans out of Joe Louis Arena.
In all Quick saved 51 shots which weren’t all blue line shots.
UCLA Bruins defeat UC Davis Aggies 74-67.
