Giants, Lincecum Bleed Out Dodgers 9 - 0

This afternoon at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers (5-6) achieved the second half of that old ballpark saying: “you win some, you lose some.”
Two-time Cy Young winner/Longhair, San Franco Giant Tim Lincecum did what he usually does, and gutted the Dodgers bats in front of 44,734. In six scoreless innings Lincecum (3-0) allowed just four hits and seven strikeouts.
“We didn’t play very well and he certainly knows how to pitch with a lead," said Dodgers Manager Joe Torre. "You’re going to have to stay close to him if you’re going to beat him.”
The odd thing for the Giants' (8-3) superace was that his own bat did more talking than usual. Across his six frames, the looks-straight-outta-Dazed-’n-Confused pitcher had three hits of his own that drove in three runs.
The Dodgers woes began where last night’s left off: with pitching. Knuckleballer Charlie Haeger’s (0-1) day at the office lasted a little more than three innings. He allowed five earned runs and seven hits while walking five across 96 pitches. The day’s work raised his early season ERA to 7.20.
“It’s just one of those awful days,” said Haeger. “'A pathetic performance,' the only way I can describe it.”

Lincecum’s dominance and Haeger’s indominance weren’t the Dodgers only two problems. In a game where Joe Torre started many backup players, two of them made early fielding errors. In for Casey Blake, Ronnie Belliard botched a play at third base, and subbing for Russell Martin, catcher AJ Ellis sent a potential pick-off ball beyond second base to center field. It only made life harder for Haeger.
The Dodgers offense continued to look anemic even after Lincecum left the hill. The home team would end the day with six quiet hits. In for Rafael Furcal at shortstop, Jamey Carroll had two of them.
The rest of the Giants offense was credited to Dodger pitcher Ramon Ortiz who gave up two earned runs.
Manny Ramirez, who sat the game with a tight calf, is expected to play tomorrow in the series' rubber match.
