  • There's a new debate happening over police recruiting. Some city councilmembers want to freeze hiring amid budget cuts and furloughs. Crime is on the decrease, but will that goal of 10,000 officers be reached?

Curious. If a police hiring freeze is implemented does that mean homeowners will see a reduction in the elevated garbage collection TAX foisted upon us by the mayor and the city council to pay for those additional officers?

Makes ya go hmmmm.

The hiring increases are a load of shit to begin with. Current LAPD officers are looking at layoffs and paycuts (rumor from LA Sheriff's deputies is 17%) but Villaraigosa is still tooting his horn and spewing crap about how the department NEEDS to hire more officers.

Hiring more doesn't make much sense to me when they are going to be laying off current officers and cutting the pay of others.

*Correction: I should have said LA County Sheriff's Union Rep. Not Sheriff's deputies.
