Tomorrow the Santa Monica Pier Celebrates 100 Years

Just a quick reminder, tomorrow is the pier's 100th birthday. Wish it well or join the festivities tomorrow night beginning at 6 p.m.

A book published earlier this year, Santa Monica Pier: A Century of the Last Great Pleasure Pier, helped kick off events earlier this year leading up to tomorrow. Author James Harris takes readers to beginning when Santa Monica sought to be the sole port serving Los Angeles. Today, it's a top recreational destination.

Random Fact: Did you know that the pier is located within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, the nation's largest urban national park?

Previously: Santa Monica Pier's older Ferris Wheel went up on eBay and was sold, finding a new home in Oklahoma. A new one debuted in the Spring.
