'Bug Bomb' Incident at Grocery Store Closes Pico Blvd.

lafdbugbomb.jpgPico Boulevard between La Cienega & Robertson was closed for a little over an hour after Los Angeles Fire Department companies responded to a fire alarm at a grocery store tonight. When firefighters arrived, there were no visible flames from the outside. They forced entry into the building only to find that a "bug bomb," which is an aerosol fumigant used for pest control, had fogged the business so much that it activated the alarm. Unfortunately, what turned out to be a non-emergency soon turned into situation when six firefighters fell ill with non-life threatening injuries and were sent to the hospital, according to LAFD Spokesman Brian Humphrey.
