Chivas Can't Get a Win

When a team is missing three of their regular starters, it's very difficult for them to win. With defensemen Claudio Suarez suspended for one game, Lawson Vaughn out six weeks with a facial fracture and Jonathan Bornstein out six weeks with a sprained LCL, the Chivas USA lost to the New England Revolution 2-1 in front of a crowd of 10,927 at the Home Depot Center.
Chivas were an aggressive bunch throughout the game, but their missing pieces were very evident in the two goals the Revolution scored. The Rev's Kenny Mansally scored in the 18th minute off of some very unsteady ball handling by the Chivas defenders and Taylor Twellman scored a straight-ahead goal in the 59th minute in much the same way.
Offensively for Chivas they outshot the Revs 10-7, but could not capitalize. The Rev's defenseman Wells Thompson seemed to have a homing device on the ball breaking up every offensive push by Chivas.
So the mothers who got in free to the game wouldn't completely deflated, Justin Braun scored a goal for Chivas in stoppage time at the end of the game.
Chivas has now gone winless in their last five games and have only a one point lead over last place San Jose Quakes in the Western Conference. Their next game is on Saturday against the last-place DC United team from the East at the Home Depot Center.
