• Thousands of Chinese immigrants pounded the Hollywood pavement today, calling for the firing of CNN's Jack Cafferty following his remarks that goods from that county were "junk," and referred to the Chinese as "a bunch of goons and thugs." Cafferty's a nut, but I'm with Voltaire on this one.
  
• If you are looking for a job, you are not alone. California's unemployment is at its highest in four years.
  
• And speaking of finding jobs: a day laborer center in Harbor City is due to be bulldozed, "for a beautification project." City officials tried in vain so far to find a replacement site, likely forcing the workers to nearby sidewalks and other parts of town.
  
• If you needed any more proof that this is the digital age, a student in Hacienda Heights has been accused of making "wiki-threats." Death threats were made to students at Glen A. Wilson High School against other students over Wikipedia.
  
• Devan Jackson, one of the victims who was shot in El Segundo on April 11 near the Pacific Movie Theaters, has been fired from his job for apparently taking too much time off work to, you know, recover from being shot. Jackson was hit in the leg while waiting in line for tickets. He shoved his fiancee to the floor and dove on top of her.
  
• LAUSD officials are trying to build a base of support in the face of multi-million dollar cuts to the district amid a looming budget crisis. Officials are spending thousands of dollars to a PR firm to help alert parents and pressure legislators to help with the $460 million shortfall. One way to cure the statewide $4.4 billion educational crunch, according to State Sen. Jack Scott, is to raise taxes.
  
• USC received a record $25 million donation to thank "the school for its dedication to diversity and global outreach." And it still wasn't enough to keep OJ Mayo.
