  • Oceanic Air flight 815 from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles crashed in mid-2004, killing 318 passengers. Six, miraculously survived. Markland at blogging.la draws the connections from LOST to Lost Angeles.
  • North Hollywood Auto Vs. Pedestrian hit-and-run leaves pedestrian dead. Stay safe out there!
  • Double dipping in that Superbowl dip today? "Three to six double dips transferred about 10,000 bacteria from an eater's mouth to the remaining dip sample."
  • In Los Angeles, there is Measure or Proposition S, the so-called Phone & Internet Tax. In Pasadena, it's called Measure D.
  • To green or not to green: Contradictions abound as Mayor Villaraigosa says he wants to get rid of the cars the City provides to some of its employees--the trouble is, a lot of those cars are fuel efficient Hybrids, and staffers would have to back to their gas guzzlers.
  • To the North of us, the Amtrak train that had been stranded and delayed since Friday has finally resumed its journey. Some of the passengers had been sent on their way, some put in hotels, and some remained on board.
  • May-December romances are the stuff Hollywood gossips live for, so here's one to chew on if you're interested: American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee, 23, married producer Nick Cokas, 42, yesterday in Beverly Hills. Quotes from the bride via her rep use words like "perfect" and "once in a lifetime." Congrats, kids. Er...um...well, anyhow, congrats.
  • After watching the fellas toss the pigskin around this afternoon, you might want to consider tossing your car keys over to a designated driver; the CHP has its eyes peeled for drunk drivers who may hit the road after watching the game.
