Closures have been announced for some areas of Griffith Park due to excessive flooding and debris. The closures are Zoo Drive to Griffith Park Drive, Outbound Griffith Park Drive, In and Outbound Crystal Springs Drive and the Bird Sanctuary

“The park has experienced some minor to moderate debris flows and flooding on several of its main roads and the Department will be implementing hard closure of some of areas of the park until the storm subsides,” said Jon Kirk Mukri General Manager, Department of Recreation and Parks, in a press release.

Western Canyon and Vermont Canyon are currently open to the Griffith Observatory. The Observatory was open at it’s regular time at noon. The Bird Sanctuary is also closed.

The headline is indicative of something that's very, very wrong with transportation in LA.

"If you commute via Griffith Park..."

Stop it!

How did a park become an alternative to a freeway? Why is it a commuting option?

It's a park. A big park. It's the largest urban wilderness park in the US.

It has Joggers. Cyclists. Equestrians. Kids.

And speeding cars shortcutting through the park!

Wrong, wrong, very wrong!

Same goes for bicyclists commuting through ;)
