  • The 21-year-old man who caused the insane and deadly crash that killed two early Saturday morning in Hollywood at Highland and Sunset has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving.
  • Speaking of crashes and cars, a Los Angeles Airport Police officer crashed his squad car into a car that was stopped at the scene of another accident. The vehicle's lights were off. No one was hurt and the officers canine partner, a Belgian Malinois, was just fine too. CBS2 News got a bit sassy with their headline: Maybe The Dog Should Drive? K-9 Unit Crashes.
  • And speaking of dogs, in an unfortunate story, a Belgian Malinois police dog was killed when a fleeing suspect took him with as he jumped off a 200 ft. bridge in San Diego. The assailant lived.
  • And back to the dangerous roads, "a woman killed in a hit-and-run collision in Carson that left one of her two 4-year-old twin boys on life support was identified Wednesday, while sheriff's deputies continued searching for the suspect who abandoned a pickup truck at the scene and fled on foot."
  • On the 5 freeway last night near the 14, a 14-year-old boy was killed trying to wave down help after he stepped out of his broken down vehicle in the center lane.
  • Out at Lake Elsinore, a kayaker who drowned on Tuesday was identified today as a Los Angeles resident.
  • Finally, some happy news. At 12:00:03 a.m. on Tuesday, what might be the first baby of SoCal's new year was born in Long Beach.
  • In media obserations, LA Observed takes note of the New York Observer taking note of Nikki Finke's comprehensive note taking on the Writers Strike.
  • Hungry and in Santa Monica? Bar Pintxo opened two weeks, an odd Holiday time to open a restaurant.
