Extra, Extra: Democracy, Dump Trucks and Downtown

Flags

  • Two explosions ripped through a convoy carrying former Pakistani premier and maybe the country's best hope for Democracy, Benazir Bhutto, following her triumphant return after an eight-year exile. She was not hurt, but hundreds were killed and injured. How did the White House respond? By tying it back to the war on terrah, of course, saying, "Those responsible seek only to foster fear and limit freedom."
  • A dump truck is in a "precarious spot" in Woodland Hills. Firefighters are on the scene to make sure it does not roll down a hill and crush some homes. Listen, hill dwellers, between fires, floods and falling homes, It's pretty clear that God does not want you living in the hills. She told me yesterday.
  • Officials investigating the crash that shut down the I-5 last week are wondering why CalTrans was having so much fun switchin' around them speed limit signs.
  • A SWAT officer was shot and killed while serving a search warrant in Rialto.
  • Hey, were you also wondering about the status of the Glass Tower in Downtown LA? I've got your back.
  • Mayor Tony had a difficult time selling his phone tax to neighborhood councils. Whatever Tony's selling, they ain't buying.
  • Car scientists cloned a 1965 Mustang and a monster truck. Reportedly it will steal your girlfriend, then run over her dad.
  • Here's a joke: What's the biggest difference between this years' (proposed) WGA strike and the 1988 work stoppage? The answer: Starbucks. Wait, that wasn't funny. That wasn't even a joke. But it was fodder for an interesting article.
  • Not only does Bush not care about children, but too many House members don't either. Fuck em. Kids' health is over-rated. Just put them all in a town by themselves and I'm sure they'll be fine.
  • And finally, how is great art made? Not in a studio, gallery or museum, but on the side of a wall.
