Extra, Extra: Jumbo-Sized MTA Buses, John Singleton's Accident and the Frogtown Artwalk Tonight

- The MTA will be testing a new 65-foot-long prototype bus - which can hold up to 131 sitting and standing passengers - on the Orange Line busway for one year starting this week.
- Nicely done: L.A. City Councilman Richard Alarcon drafted a measure 2 months ago that would've drastically reduced traffic congestion on one block of one street in Panorama City - namely the one where his house is located.
- Who's down with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoing $702 million from the state budget? Not many.
- USC freshman tailback Broderick Green was cleared to play by the NCAA and will likely take part in the opener against Idaho on September 1.
- Don't forget to attend the Frogtown Artwalk - a self-guided "tour" that takes visitors through a neighborhood filled with art studios down to a river - this evening from 5-11 PM.
- Director John Singleton - he of "Four Brothers" and "Hustle & Flow" fame - accidentally killed a pedestrian while driving late yesterday night.
