Pinkberry's Coming to Silver Lake

Pinkberry Silverlake.jpg

Pinkberry, the chain that is to frozen desserts what Starbucks is to coffee, is bringing its brand of overpriced, pseudo-healthy, weirdly sour frozen yogurt to Silver Lake with a new outlet that's set to open at the corner of Hyperion and Rowena. I know a lot of people love this place, but I just don't care for Pinkberry. And as long as Pazzo Gelato is a mere 1.4 miles away, I doubt I could ever be convinced to eat at this Pinkberry.

i hope they cut a deal with the burrito king cuz theres pretty crappy parking around there as it is.

They suck! I don't know how Wok Ave. stayed in business. That place was scarry. And those folks at Hard Times never wash their hands before grabbing some lettuce to make your salad. Thanks be to the Coffee Table. I wish they offered organics though....

Dude, I don't know what happened to Hard Times. When I first arrived in LA in 2001, I must've gone there at least 3 times a week (and went to Myrna's for frozen yogurt afterward). By far the best pizza in a seven-mile radius.

But I don't know if ownership changed hands or what. I do remember the place was closed for about a month several years ago (supposedly for renovations...um, what renovations?), but the quality plummeted and I haven't been there in over a year. Might try it soon just to sate my curiosity.

FROZEN YOGURT? Jesus fucking christ, do we just have to keep living through the 1980s forever and ever?

Oh, and if somebody is walking up the Burrito King driveway with a FROZEN YOGURT it is totally legal to drive right over them.

Lots of good pizza around. Farfalla is mighty good for the thin crust Italian pies, Palermo has a sweet Pizza Rosa that's all semi-Sicilian and tasty, Nicky D's on Rowena has the tasty old-school wood fired. Hard Times was never really that good, unless yr drunk.

I don't know what idiot ever approved that mini-mall in the first place, because parking is has always been a disaster, and who couldn't forsee that? Other idiots actually attempt to park suv's in there. When pinkberry opens, it will be totally impossible for last minute dog food replenishment. Now I have to plan ahead. I hate that.

Oh, and regarding the already clusterf*** traffic in that area, I can imagine it's only going to get worse (or until the whole Pinkberry phantasmagoria subsides). There are already issues about that stretch of Hyperion between Griffith Park Blvd and Rowena (in fact, if memory serves me correct, I believe two Trader Joe's employees, in separate incidents, have been hit by cars on Hyperion, one dying). City of LA better think of something (I'm not a city planner, so I have no idea how to address this).

Make it stop!! PLEASE make it stop!!

if there's ever been anything more worthy of semi-civil disobedient demonstration since the great Starbux virus of the 90s, it's Pinkberry. The stuff is just gross. As long as they continue leaving some of the killer murals of SL unprotected, how dare they let such an eyesore exist. paint it black anyone? How many points for the pinkberry rundown, Ken?

Isn't there a Pinkberry opening up on Vermont south of Franklin, too? I also noticed something called Orangedream (I think, I don't fucking remember) is opening up on Sunset near the Brite Spot. Are we really too stupid to appreciate the mounds of delicious, expensive gelato piling up all over Silverlake? The ice cream at Zanzabelle is excellent, too. Disclaimer: I have not tried Pinkberry's product and have no immediate plan to. I suspect I'm allergic.

I like pinkberry because it tastes pretty good. I have had better however, it was in Canada at a chain known as Yogen Fruz. Very tasty.

Pinkberry is overrated. If you are looking for a great frozen dessert, you must try Gelato di Roma in Old Town Pasadena. They make their own gelato on site and it is pretty amazing! They showcase what looks like a million flavors and its display makes you want to roll in it. We make it a weekly stop for their pizzas which is too die for. It's not pretenious and the staff is really cool. If you haven't been their, make the trip. You will be pleasantly surprised.

The pinkberry on vermont is already open. and filled to the max with hipsters in skinny jeans.
