It’s not every day the media mirror, which clearly can’t get enough of our fair burg, shines itself clearly on what we really are…A SWARMING PIT OF VAMPIRES!
Really, the blood sucking, don’t cast reflections, sleep-in-a-casket undead.
According to a (hilariously dated) study from Stephen Kaplan of the Vampire Research Center in Elmhurst, NY, in 1995 “Los Angeles was home to 36 vampires -- the highest concentration of vampires in the world."
The Los Angeles Almanac says that Kaplan described vampires "as sexually charismatic, high-energy people, who fitted well into L.A.'s mainstream, drawing less attention due to L.A.’s acceptance of the unusual.”
We are certainly sexually charismatic, high-energy, and accepting of the unusual, but there was bound to be a downside. As residents of the number One City in America for Goths, and home of the Batcave, perhaps this won’t really take anyone off guard. It may, however, explain why your New Years Eve recovery has taken just a little longer than you thought it would.
