That whole Doheny, Santa Monica, Melrose clusterfuck always gets me when I'm working an event at The Abbey. I hate how westbound Melrose forces you back onto eastbound Santa Monica. And I always forget it. Sometimes, I really think this intersection should have made LosAnjealous' The Great ‘Shittiest Intersections of LA Debate’: Losanjealous Edition

Tonight, I overcame my traffic pattern amnesia and headed westbound one street south of Melrose - Rangely Ave. And that's where I met the most depressed dog ever.

You know that deer in the headlights thing? This was more like: unleashed dog sees headlights, sadly looks at the concrete below, slowly sits in the middle of the street, and looks back at you with droopy eyes. The owner didn't notice until he made it to the curb. He came back and tried to push his dog to the curb, but he didn't budge.

I've seen some pretty miserable looking dogs before, but never have I seen the anthropomorphic depressed glaze in an animal as I saw in this retriever. This dog truly wanted me to run him over.

With enough room to squeeze by, I smiled at the owner and headed back to The Valley. This random moment could have been only sweeter, metaphorically at least, if it took place a few blocks north.
