RIP Arthur Winston

Arthur winston.jpg

Longtime MTA worker Arthur Winston, 100, died in his sleep Thursday night. He left his Metropolitan Transit Authority job last month after 76 years of service.

From KCAL/CBS2's website:

Winston, who worked at the MTA for 76 years and was honored by the Board of Supervisors and his fellow employees last month, died about 8 p.m. Thursday, according to a family statement. He had recently been admitted to the hospital for exhaustion and dehydration, but he returned home April 6....In the ensuing 72 years, Winston missed only one day of work. That was in 1988, when his wife died.

There's lesson there somewhere: Sometimes retiring can be hazardous to your health.

Rest in peace, Mr. Winston.
