Can't Touch This

2hvseMu9.jpg

LAist felt the Dodgers would be good this season. But now we're really impressed. With an 8-6 come-from-behind win over Milwaukee, the Dodgers now are a Major League-best 11-2!

Now, LAist knows not to make too much of a great early season start. But consider that the Dodgers have managed to play fantastic baseball without Eric Gagne, Brad Penny, or Wilson Alvarez yet. To all of those Dodger doubters, who think using new innovations and technologies to build a baseball team is foolish, you can admit that Paul DePodesta probably knew what he was doing. Even ESPN Analyst and Moneyball doubter Harold Reynolds publicly apologized on Baseball Tonight.

The bottom line is that Paul DePodesta and Jim Tracy have been like King Midas in this young season, with everything they've touched turning to gold. It doesn't matter whether Jose Valentin, Olmedo Saenz, Norihiro Nakamura, Jason Repko, Jason Phillips, or Rickey Ledee are in the lineup: they all can hit. And that's not including the excellent play of Jeff Kent, Milton Bradley, and even JD Drew who has just gotten hot. With everyone from Eric Neel to Peter Gammons giving the Dodgers props, LAist is in Blue Heaven.
