Boulder, California

We thought it might actually be nice to go out tonight, you know, catch a show. Maybe see former Wall of Voodoo frontman Stan Ridgway rock a little guitar and harmonica at The Hotel Cafe. Only one problem - there appears to be a boulder in the middle of the road.

The Associated Press (via Yahoo! News) reports that a 25 foot high rock is blocking both lanes of Topanga Canyon. Not that we would've taken any canyon road to go out tonight but the concept of giant flying boulders (and the fear that we might lose our pants should we need to get rescued from a raging river) is going to keep us in the house.

We'll just cross our fingers that all this precipitation will finally be gone next Monday when Colin Meloy of the Decemberists makes his way into The Hotel Cafe.

Update: Competitor blog Friendly neighbor, LA Comfidential, has the scoop on where they will put the boulder. They will blow it to smithereens. In sadder news, apparently someone died near the boulder site.

please keep us up to date on where they actually PUT the boulder. I mean, where will it go? How will they dispose o it?

this is the most important issue facing los angeles right now.

I've been staring at this photo for hours, and I still cannot convince myself that the boulder is real.

Tonight at the Hotel Cafe there's a group called "Remote" playing-- they are good, check them out.

Little Boy on Tricycle: [after witnessing a huge omnibolder roll down hippie canyon] That was totally wicked!
