Big Takeaways From COP26 As The Weeks-Long UN Climate Conference Winds Down In Glasgow
Friday is the final day of the COP26, the United Nations climate conference that has had eyeballs around the world focused on Glasgow, Scotland as world leaders, climate scientists, policymakers and others gathered to address the ongoing global climate emergency and discuss solutions to reducing carbon emissions around the world. On Wednesday, COP26 president Alok Sharma released a draft agreement instructing countries to wind down dependence on coal power and cut carbon emissions with the goal of preventing the globe from warming more than 1.5 degrees Celsius this century.
But even with the release of the draft agreement, some are calling for more. Environmentalists, Indigenous activists and others have staged protests near the site of the talks, most notably last Saturday as part of a Global Day of Climate Justice saying that for too long there has been too much talk about addressing the effects of climate change...and too little action.

New LAist Series Highlights The Hardships Faced By Unhoused Members of The LGBTQ+ Community
People experiencing homelessness in LA County have unique needs when compared to the overall unhoused population. They are more likely to be Black, Latino and/or LGBTQ+, and also often suffer from not having a job, support system or positive adult relationships. Finding support can be difficult, especially since the experiences of lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender individuals and queer people are different and each group has specific needs. Today on AirTalk, Austin is joined by KPCC and LAist unhoused communities reporter Ethan Ward, director of programs at My Friend's Place Erin Casey, and director of senior services at LA LGBT Center Kiera Pollock to talk about the issues unhoused LGBTQ+ people face.

Decorated Film Composers On Developing Music And Evoking Emotions For The Screen
The Los Angeles Philharmonic is presenting a series of consecutive concerts curated by three decorated film composers starting Friday, Nov. 19. The series is called “Reel Change: The New Era of Film Music'' and it takes place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The dedicated concerts are curated by composers Hildur Guðnadóttir, Kris Bowers and Nicholas Britell.
