Internet Radio Stations around the country are protesting a proposed increases of over 300% to royalty rates on streaming audio broadcasts by partaking in the Internet Radio Day of Silence. Our personal favorite KCRW is observing this day and been talking about it for two weeks. Also observing the day of silence is LAister Andy Sternberg's WOOZRadio. Read about it more in either the LATimes article or Washington Post. And then please take action....

Free to Be... You and Me is a cult classic for many kids of the 1970's. Gwyneth Paltrow even credits this film as one of her inspirations to become an actor. Hey man, whatever floats your boat. First released in November 1972, and later in 1974 as a television special, "Free to Be...You and Me" featured songs and stories to illustrate and define core values such as individuality, tolerance, and happiness with one's identity....

Here in Los Angeles, we're not used to feeling the change of seasons like some other parts of the country are, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate them! Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. What exactly does that mean? A solstice occurs twice a year, whenever Earth's axis tilts the most toward or away from the Sun, causing the Sun to be farthest north or south at noon....

There is just something about seeing old black and white films on the big screen that gets our motor ticking. Put them in old theaters and you have a winning combination. This year's series of the LA Conservancy's, Last Remaining Seats, has been a hit and selling out. There are two nights left. Tonight you can make your way over to the John Anson Ford Ampitheater to see La Balandra Isabel llegó esta tarde,...

Plus my intellectual self can't help but appreciate the reference. Their are two Gangs of Four. The first is the Maoist Gang of Four in China, integral members of the Central Cultural Revolution Group. But the second reference, and the one this band is alluding to is...

"I know the meeting will be there, but will God show up?" This is only second to the conversation about drugs and alcohol. Billy Graham's only vice is coffee, but he heard somewhere that coffee might be bad for you as well and that he might have to give that up to....

INFORM. THINK. INSPIRE. FEEL. CHALLENGE. INNOVATE. DECLARE. TRUTH. This is the new wave of thinking in fashion. If we can be green in the way we think about carbon emissions, our cars, our homes, recycling and being more aware of how we act, then the next step is to think critically about how we dress. Welcome Social Atelier, a new fashion line that is having their launch party tonight and will be sold in...

There are many great lines from this late 60's interview. My favorite is Billy telling Woody that "thou shall not commit immorality." Or Woody saying that not having premarital sex is like "getting your license without taking driving lessons." That and the reference to venereal disease. God Bless YouTube for digging this up....

Ususally I love Splendora for their fashion tips - but today's edition included this afternoon laugh break, entitled "Ask A Ninja." If you want to see/learn more, you can check out their MySpace page. And if you have a question for an upcoming segment, just email here....
