Vegoooooooseeeeeeeee is here! LAist is representing in Vegas! We got in last night and put $10 on black, a tradition. Life is good. We've been tackling exactly who we want to see and in what matrix we want to wander around, because let's be honest - one of the most exciting parts of a music festival is the preparation and debate amongst friends on what band is the most important. Inevitably, you miss someone...

Countdown to Vegoose is on! LAist is so excited for this year's performances and to see what Vegoose has to offer. Check out the video on highlights from last year (including an on-site Wedding Chapel, let's hope the gin isn't free flowing or we might be in trouble!) We're expecting quite the mixed crowd, ranging from hippies to rock stars, people in Halloween costumes and just about everything in between so get ready for...

So you know when you watch something on TV that references something else, and you think to yourself - oh yeah - I've been wanting to re-watch, re-read, re-see that forever! Well that's what happened to LAist after watching this week's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. All that talk of history, got us thinking, when was the last time we saw the famous "Who's On First" skit? It never gets old, it's always...

LAist is a frequent concert goer, an in-the-know kinda LA person and thus usually feels most comfortable simply tapping our feet in the every present "arms crossed" tough guy stance that you'll see at music shows across town. We stand where the music guys, agents and managers stand - in the back and looking engaged but not dancing around like a fool. And so - every once in awhile - when we start to...

Gen Art events will always pack the house. Sometimes overpack the house as LAist has been to other events of theirs where you couldn't tell if you were coming or going. Interestingly, the makeup of Gen Art is very different from city to city (we hear Chicago has the best mix of young professionals - as the LA version can at times just have too many wanna-bes). So when LAist trekked to the Santa...

We don't always want to like the pop star, boy-bander who makes it big on his own, lands a hot chick, launches a clothing line, and in general, seems to have it all. Well, JT's got moves too. Check out two songs from his latest performance on Jimmy Kimmel a few days ago....

One might argue that it is hard to look bad in a Tony Duran photograph. The man most famous for taking pics of an early J. Lo (his house even has a plaque out front that says "The House That J. Lo Built") and owning the rights to syndication, thus making him a rich, rich man has a new exhibit for us to see. Visually stunning and beautiful, Duran's opening last night at Interior...

Google has unveiled a new Web site dedicated to literacy. It's an online resource for teachers, literacy organizations and anyone else who might be interested in finding books online, promoting literacy and education at all age levels. Titled The Literacy Project, the site was set up through an agreement with UNESCO's Institute for Lifelong Learning and LitCam, the Frankfurt Book Fair literacy campaign. The site provides users access to literacy resources from around the...
