The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department served a search warrant on a Palmdale home after a neighbor reported a possible break-in and other suspicious activity, cbs2 reports. Authorities entered the home on Bridgeport Court and soon discovered 127 marijuana plants and growing equipment. The Sheriff's detectives believe the pot they found would be "worth $2.2 million on the street." No one was found on the property, and so no arrests were made on scene....

Detectives working the case of murdered lawyer Jeffrey Tidus are looking into a 2005 case wherein the slain attorney had "obtained a restraining order against a litigant who allegedly had threatened him," the LA Times is reporting. Tidus was shot outside his elegant Rolling Hills Estates home Monday evening, and the pattern of evidence as well as Tidus' personal and professional life presented immediate uncertainty regarding suspects and motive.

The rain returned to SoCal Thursday night and hung on most of yesterday. And the wet weather continues today and into tomorrow. Much of the region is under a winter storm warning, in fact, as this current system is expected to bring heavy snow and gusty winds to the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The National Weather Service's forecast is pretty grim, as it calls for periods of rain and snow to "increase in intensity this afternoon then continue heavy at times through early Sunday morning," when the precipitation will likely begin to wind down.

The 31st annual bald eagle count in the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains is slated to begin next weekend and will take place over occasional weekends until mid-March, and the effort is in need of volunteers to take part, reports abc7.
