Cargill has announced a new recall affecting 185,000 pounds of their ground turkey following increased concerns about salmonella contamination. The recall affects three kinds of ground turkey products: Fresh Ground Turkey Chubs, Fresh Ground Turkey Trays, and Fresh Ground Turkey Patties. Those items are packaged and sold under the Honeysuckle White and Kroger labels.

A man who broke free from an unspecified mental hospital Saturday attempted to evade Los Angeles Police Department officers by jumping naked into the harbor at Marina del Rey. The escaped patient was still outfitted with a catheter and an IV tube while he fled.

It's not Carmageddon, and it's only going to affect those drivers who need to get from the 405 Southbound to the 101 Freeway in either direction. However, Caltrans still wants everyone to be forewarned that the connector from the I-405 south to the 101 in both directions will be closed from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday September 11th for maintenance.

According to his BeerNews bio, 24-year-old Andrew Bell of Los Angeles considers himself "a beer enthusiast/geek first and a [home]brewer second."
