  • Tonight NY-based indie rockers the Walkmen will be performing at the Henry Fonda Music Box with Baltimore's lugubrious duo Beach House. LA's own indie pop duo Castledoor (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6) is playing at the Echoplex for this week's edition of Check One, Twosday, which is still being sponsored by the now-defunct radio station Indie 103.1. Sean Carlson (of the Fuck Yeah Fest) is throwing a psych rock frenzy at the Smell, including performances by Long Beach-based Crystal Antlers and Ancestors. And, lastly, the one-woman army, otherwise known as Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview, Review), will be gracing the Hotel Café. But we strongly suggest checking into Spaceland, where Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter Sara Lov will be stopping through for the penultimate date of her month-long residency. LAist favorite Willoughby (LAist Review, #2) is slated to open.
  • It's Monday night in LA and that means the free residencies are aplenty. You've got local singer-songwriter Rocco Deluca (LAist Interview, Review) performing at Spaceland for the penultimate time. Last week's show found famed Québécois producer/musician Daniel Lanois joining Deluca onstage. LA's other prominent and prepossessing singer-songwriter Robert Francis (LAist Interview, Review) will be playing at the Echo for the third night this month as well. And, to complete the triumvirate, local alt-country outfit Olin & the Moon (LAist Interview) are poised to rock the Silver Lake Lounge. But we insist that you head all the way over to UCLA's Kerckhoff Grand Saloon to catch Brooklyn experimental buzz band High Places. LAist favorite Glasser will be kicking off the show.
  • Tonight legendary Chicago-bred punk rockers the Dwarves will take on the Knitting Factory. LA-based indie rockers the Hectors are performing at Spaceland. On the earlier side of things, Redwood Bar & Grill will be hosting its weekly Brunch Americana with none other than Mike Stinson at the top of the bill. And, lastly, raucous PA-based rockers Eastern Conference Champions are poised to play at the Scene in Glendale. But we recommend heading over to the Hotel Café to catch Texan folk rock maestros Tenlons Fort (LAist Review, #2, #3).
  • Tonight Santa Cruz-by-way-of-Atlanta instrumental outfit Sound Tribe Sector 9 will be concluding a two-night headlining sting at the Wiltern. Poway punk rockers Unwritten Law are performing at the Roxy. On the early side of things, LAist's favorite singer-songwriter Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview) will be taking over Amoeba Records on Sunset at 2:00 PM. And, lastly, the Echo is playing host to local noise-infused rockers Mika Miko (LAist Review) for this month's edition of Hang The DJs. But we strongly recommend heading over to the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch the blisteringly good tunes of Autolux (LAist Review, #2). San Francisco-based psych rockers Wooden Shjips (LAist Review) are slated to kick off the show.
  • Tonight LA-based pop duo Jupiter Rising are opening for boy band Boyz II Men at Club Nokia in Downtown. Hermosa Beach's own punk rockers Pennywise will be struttin' their machismo around a sold-out crowd with the Vandals at the Hollywood Palladium. Santa Cruz-by-way-of-Atlanta instrumental outfit Sound Tribe Sector 9 are headlining the Wiltern with electronic producer/musician extraordinaire Prefuse 73. San Diegan alt-rockers the Delta Spirit will be performing at the El Rey Theatre with LAist favorites Everest (LAist Review, #2). Latin rockers Ozomatli are headlining the Echoplex with Wait.Think.Fast in tow. And, lastly, Anticon's best emcee Sole is coming through the Knitting Factory. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Hotel Café to watch Theresa Andersson (LAist Interview) tear down the house with her one-woman band.
  • Tonight Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee will be performing at Largo at the Coronet's Little Room. The Roxy is playing host to a slew of DFA artists, including Portland-based one-man band Yacht, the Juan Maclean, Tim Sweeney and Tim Goldsworthy. LA-based singer-songwriter Meiko (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4, #5) will be playing at the Hotel Café for the second night in a row with LAist favorite Obi Best (LAist Interview, Review, #2) slated to open. On the early side of things, Scottish rockers Glasvegas are poised to take over Amoeba Records. And, lastly, LA-based psych rock outfit the Entrance Band will be headlining the Troubadour with Indian Jewelry and the Growlers in tow. But we insist that you head over to the Largo at the Coronet to catch LA's most beautiful and forlorn figure Fiona Apple.
  • Tonight LA-based free jazz outfit the Nels Cline Singers will be performing at Largo at the Coronet. Scottish rockers Glasvegas are slated to headline a sold-out show at the Troubadour. And, lastly, a handful of great locals, including Les Blanks, Death to Anders and the Soft Hands, will be rocking out at the rather drab bar Three Clubs in Hollywood. But we strongly recommend heading over to the Airliner in Downtown to catch Brooklyn-by-way-of-LA electronic maestro Eliot Lipp and his live band Lipp Service.
  • Tonight virtuosic R&B singer-songwriter John Legend will be performing at the Gibson Amphitheatre. Hawaiian-born singer-songwriter Sara Lov is continuing her month-long residency at Spaceland with LAist favorites Learning Music. If you missed Norwegian rock songstress Ida Maria last night, then you can catch her one last time at the Viper Room. And, lastly, it's beginning to appear as though country artist Mike Stinson is to Redwood Bar & Grill as Jon Brion is to Largo; He's practically playing any given day of the month. But we urge you to head over to the Echoplex to catch Eastside buzz band Warpaint's record release show. LA locals Brother Reade (LAist Interview, Review) and Crooked Cowboy are slated to kick off the show.
  • Tonight "Santa Barbarian" pop songstress Katy Perry will be making her return to the Hotel Café with Meiko (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) slated to open. LAist favorite Rocco Deluca (LAist Interview, Review) will be continuing his residency at Spaceland with Ida Maria and HoneyHoney (LAist Review, #2) opening. And, lastly, San Francisco-based rockers the Stone Foxes are poised to perform at the Mint. But we strongly recommend braving the Echo for Robert Francis (LAist Interview, Review), who will be backed by none other than Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Red Cortez, formerly known as the Weather Underground, will be kicking off the show.
  • Tonight Oakland-based experimental electro outfit Hawnay Troof will be performing at the Smell in Downtown. LA-based rockers Go West Young Man are slated to play the Air Conditioned Lounge in Venice with Automatic Drawing and the Rhone Occupation. And the Echo will play host to two great local acts, Thee Mighty Angels and Golden Years, for this week's edition of Part Time Punks. But we strongly recommend heading over to the Roxy to catch Orgone, a proficient funk troupe that stunned us at last year's Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle.
