LA-bred electronic mastermind Daedelus will be performing at the Downtown Independent Theater as a part of A Labrat Matinee VII: The Dublab 10th Anniversary Edition. And, lastly, local cover band the Crabs, which features members of the long-defunct Pasadena-based rock band Ozma, will be covering Weezer's 1996 tour de force Pinkerton in its entirety at the Knitting Factory's Front Stage. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Henry Fonda Music Box to catch Amadou & Mariam, a blind Mali-based husband-and-wife musical duo. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch Nashville-based electro-infused indie rock quartet Paper Route.
  • Tonight Mazzy Star front woman Hope Sandoval will be performing for a sold-out crowd at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever. Nashville's own alt-country all-stars Old Crow Medicine Show are poised to take on the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. And, lastly, LA-bred psych rockers Dead Meadow will be letting loose at the seemingly makeshift venue makeshift Two One Nine in Downtown. But we strongly suggest heading over to Amoeba Music to catch local afro-centric indie pop act Fool's Gold, who will be ringing in their 2009 self-titled debut today.

  • When you attend a concert that happens on a Monday afternoon and also is sponsored by Yahoo, your expectations from the get-go are low, but from the moment Weezer ripped into "Hash Pipe," all the Monday blues were wiped away. You don’t need to hit a hash pipe to numb yourself on a Monday, all you need is Rivers Cuomo and the rest of his band mates, dressed in their white jumpsuits, blasting the Roxy like it was midnight, instead of 2 pm.
