  • This week critically-acclaimed French duo Air will be headlining the Walt Disney Concert Hall with none other than Tulsa-bred singer-songwriter AM. Portland-based alt-country duo She & Him, or rather Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, are poised to perform to a sold-out crowd at the El Rey Theatre with the Living Sisters in tow. Kansas City-bred Grammy Award-nominated pop singer-songwriter Janelle Monae will be taking on a two-night stint at the Viper Room. And, lastly, Portland's own experimental electronic duo YACHT will be gracing the Echoplex with local electro pop mastermind Bobby Birdman, Denver-bred experimental electronic musician Pictureplane and Georgia-by-way-of-South Carolina dream-pop maestro Washed Out.
  • Tonight English indie rockers Gomez will be concluding a two-night stint at the Wiltern with none other than Silver Lake-bred folk-infused indie rock outfit Family of the Year in tow. Avant-garde musician and founding member of Animal Collective Josh Dibb, otherwise known as Deakin, is poised to kick off a two-night stint at Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. And, lastly, British electronic duo Groove Armadawill be ringing in their sixth studio album—2010's Black Light—at theHenry Fonda Music Box. But we strongly suggest heading over to Bootleg Theater to catch one of LAist's favorite local singer-songwriters, Mia Doi Todd.

But we strongly suggest heading over to the Getty Center Mali-based musician Bassekou Kouyaté & Ngoni Ba, who will be performing for this week's edition of 'Saturday Nights at the Getty.'

  • Tonight the Swell Season, an indie folk duo formed by Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová, will be performing at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Mon Mon. Local psych-infused indie rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (LAist Interview) are poised to conclude their three-night stint at the Echoplex. And, lastly, Long Beach natives Crystal Antlers (LAist Review) will be taking on the Smell in Downtown. But we strongly suggest selling your body (or your time, whichever way you look at it) to get into the Troubadour to catch Broken Bells—the brainchild of the Shins front man James Mercer and producer/musician extraordinaire Danger Mouse.
  • This week New England-based experimental lo-fi musician Merrill Garbus, who performs under the pseudonym tUnE-YaRdS, will be gracing the Echo, warming up the stage for San Jose's own experimental art rock trio Xiu Xiu. Danish indie rockers Efterklang are poised to headline Spaceland. Avant-garde musician and founding member of Animal Collective Josh Dibb, otherwise known as Deakin, will be taking on a two-night stint at Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. And, lastly, Mali-based musician Bassekou Kouyaté & Ngoni Ba will be performing at the Getty Center for this week's edition of 'Saturday Nights at the Getty.'
  • Tonight the City of Brotherly Love's own dream pop sextet A Sunny Day in Glasgow will be headlining the Mint with none other than local act Pollyn in tow. Prolific San Franciscan psych-infused rock outfit the Fresh & Onlys are poised to take over Spaceland. Extra Life, a Brooklyn-bred experimental rock act who bear loose associations with the Dirty Projectors, will be performing down the street at Echo Curio. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo early this afternoon to catch Chicago-bred garage rock outfit Smith Westerns (LAist Review). LAist favorites, local "retro-leaning" pop rock quintet the Young Veins, which of course features not one, but two former members of Panic! At The Disco, are slated to kick things off.
