Canadian indie rock quintet Stars are poised to kick off a two-night, sold-out stint at the Troubadour. And, lastly, Highland Park's own experimental rockers Seasons will be headlining the Echo, ringing in their latest EP, 2010's Winter. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to catch Brighton-based folk trio Peggy Sue. LAist favorites, Silver Lake-based indie pop act Pepper Rabbit are slated to perform.

Tonight English alternative rockers Athlete will be headlining the Troubadour, touring in support of their fourth studio-album—2009's Black Swan. Echo Park's own electro dance duo Rainbow Arabia are poised take on the Echo yet again, with LA-based experimental punk outfit Abe Vigoda in tow. And, lastly, Long Beach-based indie rockers We Barbarians will be performing with local indie rockers Red Cortez (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) and Pacific Hurt, formerly known as Santa Ana-based indie rockers Aushua at Spaceland. But we strongly suggest heading over to Bardot to catch our dear friend, local singer-songwriter Kenneth Pattengale, who will be performing for this week's edition of School Night.

Tonight Dallas-bred multiple Grammy Award-winning soul singer-songwriter Erykah Badu will be headlining the Greek Theatre with none other than Kansas City-bred pop singer-songwriter Janelle Monae and Chicago-based hip hop artist Lupe Fiasco. Scottish folk singer-songwriter and former member of Pentagle Bert Jansch is finally making his return to the US following an illness that scuttled his planned 2008 tour, and will be playing at the Largo Coronet tonight with special guest Pegi Young. And, lastly, LAist favorites, San Franciscan indie pop trio Geographer will be gracing Spaceland. But we strongly suggest doing whatever it takes to get into the Hollywood Bowl to catch Brooklyn-based buzz band Yeasayer and local afro-centric indie pop act Fool's Gold, who will be warming up the stage for Senegalese singer-songwriter Baaba Maal and Tinariwen, a band of Saharan musicians from northern Mali.

This week critically-acclaimed English electro pop duo Goldfrapp will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl with New England-based experimental lo-fi musician Merrill Garbus, otherwise known as tUnE-YaRdS. Brooklyn-based soul/funk group Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings will be headlining the Wiltern. Canadian indie rock quintet Stars are poised to take on a two-night, sold-out stint at the Troubadour. And, lastly, Denton-based singer-songwriter Sarah Jaffe will be gracing the Bootleg Theater, warming up the stage for overall lo-fi rock pioneer Lou Barlow.

LA-bred all-female, retro 60s pop rock quartet The Like (LAist Review, #2, #3) are poised to headline the Troubadour in celebration of their recently-released Ronson/Greenwald-produced debut, 2010's Release Me. And, lastly, our dear friend Jody at When You Awake is at it again, always keeping busy; This time she's throwing a Beach Boys Tribute at the Bootleg Theater with Red Cortez (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) , the Chapin Sisters, Leslie Stevens (of Leslie and the Badgers), Hi Ho Silver Oh, and of course the Parson Red Heads (LAist Review, #2, #3, #4) at the top of the bill. But we strongly suggest spending the day in the lovely confines of Pasadena—the city yours truly calls home—for this year's Make Music Pasadena Festival. It's one of the more beauteous Summer days here in Pasadena: cerulean skies, a slight breeze, and mind-numbingly temperate 70 degree conditions. Two of Brooklyn's finest, dance punk duo Matt and Kim (LAist Review) and indie rock trio the Antlers (LAist Review) will be performing, as well as a bevy of locals—including Warpaint, Voxhaul Broadcast, Breakestra, and Big Whup (LAist Review). And, what's more, it's freaking free!

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter April Smith & The Great Picture Show is poised to grace the Hotel Café with New Jersey-bred folk singer-songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs. And, lastly, Culver City/Mar Vista-based indie rock sextet Bikos will be taking on Pehrspace. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Bootleg Theater to catch Portland-based pop folk sextet Loch Lomond. LAist favorites, Seattle's own pop folk outfit Hey Marseilles are slated to kick things off.

Canadian indie rockers Hot Hot Heat are poised to conclude their month-long residency at the Bootleg Theater. And, lastly, Signals (LAist Review), the phoenix to rise from the ashes of the Mae Shi (LAist Interview, Review, #2), will be gracing Spaceland. But we strongly suggest heading over to Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock to catch the LA debut of Junip, an indie rock trio formed by critically-acclaimed Swedish singer-songwriter José González during his formative years. LAist favorites local folk troubadour Ferraby Lionheart (LAist Interview, Review) is slated to kick things off.

But we strongly suggest heading over to the Echo and Echoplex to catch New Jersey's own psych-infused surf pop act Real Estate and Brooklyn-based psych-infused folk outfit Woods, who are headlining the first Woodsist Festival at the Echo and Echoplex; It should also be noted that prior to the aforementioned event, all-around progenitors of the hazeadelics scene, Julian Lynch and Alex Bleeker will be performing for free, in-store at Origami Vinyl.
