Mall parking lots are no joke during the holiday season -- a swiped spot can be all it takes for a driver to unleash his or her holiday-induced rage. That's why the Riverside Police Department is enlisting the help of eight volunteers on horseback to help patrol lots in the area, reports NBC Los Angeles.

In case you hadn't heard, a 20-year-old woman named Mariah Yeater is accusing Justin Bieber of getting her pregnant after the two allegedly bumped uglies backstage following a concert at the Staples Center in October of 2010. Yeater now has a four-month-old baby that she claims is Justin's, but the 17-year-old pop superstar maintains that the baby isn't his, and that he and Yeater never had sex.

The owner of a furniture store in Bell had to physically subdue a drunk driver who crashed into his shop last night after the driver tried to flee the scene, reports KTLA. The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Gage and Flora avenues. The driver was at the wheel of a white minivan, and before crashing through the store's wall he hit another car, hopped a curb and broke down a fence.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the death last month of Thousand Oaks High School football player Griffen Kramer, reports the Ventura County Star. Kramer was found dead at the Agoura Hills house of 19-year-old David Nernberg, with whom he had once played football at Agoura Hills High School.

The body of a transgender person was found on the streets of Hollywood last night after residents called police to report hearing guns being fired. According to KABC, the victim was shot in the chest. Witnesses saw a man leaving the area shortly after hearing shots go off, but no one has been arrested in connection to the death.

As part of President Obama's promise to bring the troops home from Iraq by the end of the year, 500 California National Guard soldiers landed stateside this morning, with 250 of them coming through Los Alamitos. KTLA reports that the planes touched down in Los Alamitos at 5:20 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., carrying soldiers who had been overseas for about a year.

Faculty members at Cal State East Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills are planning to participate in a walkout today, reports KTLA. The teachers are protesting the university administration's decision not to pay them raises that were negotiated for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school years.
