  • Two men were shot by police in Compton yesterday evening after a chase that ended on foot near a cul-de-sac, reports City News Service. Both turned out to be unarmed. The incident began when officers reported hearing shots fired at about 6:20 p.m. near the 1600 block of East San Luis Street.
  • One man was injured in Canyon County when an explosion happened in an apartment being used to grow and cultivate marijuana, reports City News Service. The blast happened at about 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday on the 17700 block of Scherzinger Lane. Officials think that lab machinery being used to extricate THC was the cause.
  • An Echo Park man is filing suit against the LAPD, claiming that they beat and arrested him for no reason as he walked down the street towards his home. KTLA reports that the incident allegedly went down on October 20 of last year.

  • Next week is Halloween, and the LAPD will be out in full force cracking down on drunk driving, per their longstanding"Avoid the 100" campaign. In a press release laden with bad puns about scariness and costumes, the police department announced that they'll be deploying extra officers throughout the city to find drunk drivers and take them into custody.
  • At some point, everyone wants to test things out and see if they could pull off an “Ocean’s Eleven.” But while most of us stop at the fantasy, one Palmdale man went for broke and acted the whole Vegas heist thing out.
  • A man sitting outside a market in Long Beach was hit with a Molotov cocktail that was hurled in his direction by an unknown suspect on 7:00 p.m. on Friday, reports City News Service. The 54-year-old man, whose name hasn't been released, was reportedly waiting for his father on the 200 block of West Pacific Coast Highway when the incident occurred.
  • Police are just like us, guys. Two cop cars collided this morning in Lakewood while responding to a call, reports City News Service. No one was hurt, but both vehicles were damaged.
  • You thought you had to go all the way to Vegas to play the slots, but it turns out that until yesterday, you could have just headed on up to Burbank. According to the Burbank Ledger, police confiscated two illegal slot machines from the Neighborhood Market on North Glenoaks Boulevard on Tuesday.
  • The 405 Freeway was closed this morning between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. after a semitrailer spilled diesel fuel on the northbound side of the road, reports City News Service.
