We here at LAist may not want to rule the world (though from time to time we do fantasize about running this city for a while), but that doesn't make the lyrics of Tears for Fears any less true. Almost twenty years after their best-known hit, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," they've moved on to make a new generalization about the entirety of humanity. Now they're insisting that Everybody Loves a Happy Ending....

We've heard all the griping about the trolley at the Grove, and we can't disagree with any of it. It barely runs one city block. It disrupts foot traffic. It's full of gleefully shrieking, digital picture-snapping tourists who look like, sound like and most likely are complete idiots. What's the point of a trolley whose functional value is pretty much zero? There may as well be a 400-foot-tall bellydancing octopus in the middle of...

Were we too unsympathetic toward SUV drivers with our last A&E Report? Arent they just another abused minority in a city designed for small vehicles, forced to search extra-hard for those few parking spaces where their mammoth vehicles will fit? And what of those poor souls who have to navigate our city while driving that poster child for arrogance and entitlement, the Hummer? Cant we be more understanding when they hog two spots because...

It probably won't come as much of a surprise that the best thing about the Grove isn't even technically a part of it. When construction on the Grove was approved, preservationists feared what would become of L.A.'s historic Farmer's Market. As it turns out, they didn't need to worry. Since the Grove opened in 2002, the Farmer's Market has for the most part managed to retain its individuality, while at the same time teeming...

We promise that not every installment of the A&E Report will focus on parking, but there's a reason the first two installments do: parking in this city sucks — big time. It's a curse that affects us all, and most of us just suck it up and suffer through it. But the arrogant and entitled don't play by the rules, and they've made parking more of a nightmare than it needs to be. Compact...
