Ravi Shankar, the sitar master who was dubbed the “godfather of world music” by late Beatle George Harrison, died near his home in San Diego yesterday at the age of 92. Shankar suffered from upper respiratory and heart problems and had just undergone heart-valve replacement surgery.

The legendary Andy Griffith has died at the age of 86, according to friends. TMZ was reporting around 7 a.m. PST that Griffith was rushed to the hospital in North Carolina—"transported by an emergency medical crew that was called to Griffith's home in Roanoke Island." Yesterday Bob Welch, former guitarist for Fleetwood Mac, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the age of 66. He was discovered by his wife just after noon at their home in Nashville, with a suicide note left on his desk. Police spokesman Don Aaron said he had health issues recently.
