  • At VH1 Classic's Rock & Bowl last night, hosts from a variety of shows, especially those airing on VH1 also made a strong showing to support the cause. So let's hear it for the people who bring us our gameshows and clip shows. You know you'd be lost without them. Let's just call them "nonfiction" shows....
  • Did you swoon over snowboarder Jesse on The Bachelorette? The recent announcement that he had been dumped by Deanna was posted online last week by Jesse in true 21st century fashion. You know what that means. Girls, Jesse is single and it's time to get in line. But that line starts in Colorado, and it may be awhile. At least according to LAist's video interview with Jesse at tonight's VH1 Rock & Bowl. Where to...
  • Last night VH1 Classic's Rock & Bowl event took over the All Star Lanes to benefit autism charities. In addition to the rock stars and actors, there was a large contingent of reality stars. Not like we ever watch those shows. OK, maybe TiVo records them for us. And TiVo must be obeyed....
  • VH1 definitely knows how to throw a party! Remember that pizza-addled dream about Corey Feldman, Scott Ian and Billy Gibbons? It really can come true! Here is the first batch of red carpet photos from VH1 Classic's Rock & Bowl event last night at All Star Lanes to benefit autism charities. It was a mellow red carpet in such an intimate setting that we could even chat a little with the celebs and ask them...
  • Photo by urbanshoegirl via Flickr Did you ever eat too much pizza before going to bed and have one of those really weird dreams where you were bowling with Slash, Scott Ian and Billy Gibbons while Greg Brady and Corey Feldman cheered you on? Well, that dream can become a reality tomorrow night. Tomorrow night VH1 Classic Rock invites you to Rock & Bowl with the Stars to benefit three autism charities. Hosted by Dave...
  • Sunday, November 3rd, Self Help Graphics in East LA held one of Los Angeles' most entertaining and visually exciting Dia de los Muertos festivals. It could even be argued that Self Help, which started out in 1970, was instrumental in reviving the once-obscure holiday of Dia de los Muertos. This year was their 35th annual festival. Self Help Graphics & Art began celebrating Day of the Dead on November 2, 1972. Two artists met in...
  • This footage was posted on YouTube at 11pm tonight as an estimated crowd of 2,500 people marched in protest of the passage of Proposition 8. MyFoxLA has also posted footage on their website. The YouTube poster comments, "Thousands of gay marriage supporters march in four large groups throughout West Hollywood and other parts of Los Angeles as Prop 8 passes in California. Taken near the corner of Sunset Blvd., and Crescent Heights. There [sic] message...
  • Sunday was the final evening of the Olvera Street Merchant's Dia de los Muertos celebration. It seemed like the entire city showed up, crowding the narrow streets and gazebo. Blessings were given in the street center, cleansing the faithful with smoke that billowed from small clay pots. Shops sold sugar skulls, mariachis played, and the lines at taco stands grew as the hour of the procession neared. At 7pm, after a blessing by a parish...
  • On Halloween night, the model/artists of Feed A Model hosted an eco-friendly evening of art, fashion, and charity. Feed a Model benefits Global Green USA. All of the artwork uses Low & Zero VOC paints, and natural and recycled materials. The models who created the art were dressed by eco-friendly designer Deborah Lindquist as different themed princesses Some of the larger artworks were auctioned off live. According to the press release, "The lucky winners of...
  • The slow realization that not a single Halloween party provided refreshments on Friday led to a stop at The Gumbo Pot, which in turn led to the serendipitous discovery of a total rager at the Farmer's Market at Third and Fairfax. Who knew? It was family-friendly, and the booths served food until at least 10pm. The bar also served into the night, which made for some serious partying. "Mr. Rogers" won the extremely close costume...
