  • Two-year-old L.A. burger phenomenon Umami Burger is OC bound. The sixth location of the gourmet burger bar is scheduled to open December 1 in the Anaheim Brewery complex, reports the OC Register.
  • This summer a portion of the L.A. River will be officially opened up for guided kayak tours for the first time. While kayaking tours have occurred in the past without legal permit, the current program, proposed by a coalition of groups is currently under an environmental review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Lindsay Lohan arrived at the LAX Courthouse at 9:45 a.m. Thursday on a probation violation. The 24-year-old troublemaker reportedly tested positive for alcohol during a June 13th party at her Venice house. Will Lohan be sent to jail? To rehab?   • A Los Angeles-based startup with a mission to enable multimedia storytelling in communities worldwide that otherwise lack the resources was awarded a $200,000 grant by the Knight Foundation on Wednesday. The Tiziano Project's Tiziano 360 project was one of 16 ideas to win a prestigious Knight News Challenge grant awarded to fund internationally relevant innovative media and digital news concepts.
