You Can Bid On Angelyne's Pink Corvette On eBay

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

What do you have parked in your driveway? A Hyundai Elantra? A Smart Car? Weak, dude.

How about a hot-pink Corvette with rear-wheel drive and a naturally-aspirated V8 engine that tops off at 505 horses? And what if that car was formerly owned by none other than Angelyne, one of the Sunset Strip's most indelible figures?

If that's your fantasy, then you're tantalizingly close to making it happen. As noted at Racked, Angelyne is now selling her 2008 Corvette on eBay. The auction, which ends on Sunday, starts off at $11,111 and hasn't had any bidders as of publication.

It looks like this Corvette isn't a base-model meant for some 17-year-old who's just scored a driver's permit. The car, as detailed on the auction page, is pretty loaded. Aside from the beastly V8 engine, you're also looking at power seats, a leather interior, CD player, a removable top and brand new tires. You can also request for Angelyne to sign the car (we have no idea why you'd refuse this perk).

The page also says that the car has never been involved in an accident. So we presume it's in much better shape than a more recent Corvette she owns, which, as seen on Reddit, had gotten dinged up recently. It should also be noted, again, that the car being sold on eBay is a 2008 model, so it's not one of Angelyne's vintage cars from the days of yore, when Ratt was headlining Whisky a Go Go.

We called up Scott Hennig, who is oft-cited as her manager, to ask why Angelyne had decided to put up her car for auction. He said that "it's self-explanatory," then added "best of luck!" We assume he thought we're placing a bid on the car, but we're not because we don't have $11k lying around.

Who is Angelyne? You've likely seen her (or her car) if you've spent significant time in Hollywood. She's been credited as an actress, painter, and singer, but she never quite broke through in those fields. Instead, she came to prominence through her sheer insistence at being famous. She was plastered on L.A. billboards in the 80s, eschewing any explanation as to what, exactly, she was promoting (aside from herself). She often accommodated fans who wanted an autograph, or a picture of her and her signature ride. In the past three decades she's established herself as a living, breathing legend of Hollywoodland.

Anyway, here are some pictures of people getting acquainted with Angelyne and her Corvette:

Update [1:55 p.m.]
Hennig called back and informed us that, aside from the Corvette listed on eBay, Angelyne also currently owns a 2016 and a 2017 model. He said that the 2017 model Corvette is at the shop getting ready for a paint job. We asked "what color?" and both parties had a good laugh over that.

Hennig also informed us that he's not Angelyne's manager, per se. He's just there "to handle her calls."
