Woman Gives Birth In An Uber Outside A Whole Foods In Sherman Oaks

Uber requires a few things from its drivers—namely an in-state license and a new enough car—and it may be time to add something else to the list: experience as a midwife. Friday night, out in Sherman Oaks, a woman called a ride share car and ended up giving birth in the Uber.
A witness told ABC News that the woman went into labor at the Whole Foods and she and the father of the child called an Uber. She proceeded to have the baby in the car. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Uber driver was the "primary assist" for the delivery of the child before fire officials arrived on the scene. The birth occurred on the 12900 block of Riverside Drive.
The mother, father, and baby were subsequently transported to a nearby hospital after a successful delivery, according to the L.A. Daily News.
