A 31-year-old woman was fatally shot on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood by a man armed with a shotgun Sunday evening, police said.

The woman, who lived nearby, was going to pick up food with her boyfriend at the time of the shooting, ABC 7 reports. He wasn't injured. The shooting happened at McCadden Place and Sunset Boulevard, near Highland Avenue at 10:10 p.m., LAPD spokeswoman Liliana Preciado told City News Service.

"The suspect walked up and fired one round with a shotgun then entered a parked car and left the scene," Preciado said.

The woman died of a single gunshot wound to the head, NBC Los Angeles reports. Her boyfriend said no words were exchanged before the shooting.

Police told ABC 7 that they believe the woman was targeted but they don't yet have a motive. The suspect, described as a man in his 30s, fled the scene.
