Unfortunately for rocker Rick Springfield, the point is not moot when it comes to the law. Today Springfield is due in court to be arraigned on two misdemeanor DUI charges he garnered following a DUI bust in Malibu on May 1.Springfield is charged with "driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving while having a 0.08 percent or higher blood-alcohol content," notes the Daily News. The singer, whose trademark song "Jessie's Girl" was #1 when MTV debuted in August 1981, took, and failed a field sobriety test during his traffic stop.

Even if he had Jessie's girl, and she could give him a ride to court today, Springfield is not actually required to attend the hearing in Malibu Superior Court.
