West Hollywood Will Offer Free Same-Sex Weddings Monday

West Hollywood is celebrating the return of same-sex wedding by offering free wedding ceremonies to same-sex couples on Monday.
We're guessing there will be a glut of same-sex couples who haven't been able to marry in California since Proposition 8 passed five years ago, so get there early: ceremonies will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The West Hollywood City Council and other city officials will be deputized to perform marriages at 12:30 pm, and then they'll be going to town marrying everyone they can from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
There is information about the ceremonies on the city's website, but just know if you're eager to be a member of this first batch of same-sex marriages, it will take a little planning.
Couples need to have a marriage license issues by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder beforehand. The nearest Registrar-Recorder branch happens to be in Beverly Hills at 9355 Burton Way, 3rd Floor, Room 300, and the licensing hours are between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. There will be a complimentary shuttle between the West Hollywood City Council Chambers and the Beverly Hills County branch office every half hour beginning at 7:45 a.m. until 4 p.m. There's validated parking at the West Hollywood Park Parking Garage.
