Chicagoist food editor Anthony Todd dined at Next, the new restaurant from Grant Achatz, and brought back the photos to prove it. A photo of Chicago from the vantage point of the International Space Station had readers in awe.

• Seattlest began the week by reminding ourselves why theater matters, then reeled as we found out the proposed state budget would mean cuts to higher education, health programs, and the suspension of the state’s primaries during the coming election. Elsewhere, a local lit celebrity sniped about another local tech celebrity, and we marveled at how close we are to having computer chip contact lenses.
• Bostonist rejoiced that the Red Sox finally won a friggin' baseball game. Dustin Pedroia, or even his wife, get credit for that accomplishment. But, 1-7 is still unacceptable. We're a bit annoyed that somebody compared the Sox to El Heat de Miami. In other news: Bostonians protested U.S. involvement in Libya; The MBTA could close the busy Government Center Station for three years to renovate it.
• DCist was in full shutdown preparation mode last week. With the District’s House delegate recommending Congress "go straight to hell", its residents planning to dump garbage -- which in front of Speaker of the House John Boehner’s home, and many wondering what would happen if we just didn’t comply with federal regulations, it’s probably a good thing a last-minute agreement was reached. (Then again, considering the deal bans the city from spending money on abortions, it’s hardly a helpful development in D.C.’s never-ending battle for autonomy.)
• Gothamist reported about the latest incident in the NYPD’s war against cyclists: This time, a plainclothes cop nearly doored a cyclist and then arrested her. Oh, and it turns out if you want to ban Happy Meals, people are going also talk about how you’re fat.
• Shanghaiist was tickled by the droves of mainlanders flocking to Hong Kong to watch the world’s first 3D porn movie.
• We were outraged over the vicious beating at Dodger Stadium that left a San Francisco Giants fan in a coma, and reported as the LAPD instituted a "zero-tolerance" policy at future home games, effective immediately, that includes new security measures and an increased police presence.
