USC To Play Penn State In 2017 Rose Bowl Game
It looks like our hometown Trojans will be making their way all the way across town to Pasadena come January 2. In what the L.A. Times is calling a "stunning turnaround," it was announced Sunday that USC had earned a spot in the 2017 Rose Bowl game. USC will face off against Penn State in the game.
Despite a rough start, USC is closing off the season with nine straight wins which, as ESPN put it, "is something few teams can say they accomplished."
This will be USC's 34th Rose Bowl appearance, more than any other team. The Trojans last played in the iconic game back in 2009, where they also faced off against—who else?—the Penn State Nittany Lions. USC won that game 38-24, not that anyone is counting.

Also, for anyone confused about why this year's Rose Bowl will be played on January 2 instead of New Year's Day, SB Nation reports that it's because January 1 will fall on a Sunday in the new year.
