Two Dead In Shooting At UCLA

A shooting at UCLA has put the entire Westwood campus on lockdown. Officials confirm that two males have been found dead.

Update: One of the victims has been identified as Professor William Klug.

Update [1:55]: A source tells the L.A. Times that police believe a student shot and killed a professor before turning the gun on himself, based on the appearance of the victims. So far the victims have not been identified.

Update [12:10]: LAPD Chief Charlie Beck confirms that three shots were fired and that the shooting was a murder-suicide. "The campus is now safe," said Beck while addressing the media. The shooting took place in an office inside Boelter Hall, the campus' engineering building, he said.

Update [11:45]: At a press conference, UCLA Police Chief Jim Herren says officials are investigating the possibility that the shooting was a murder-suicide, but cautioned that it is too early to know. "It is certainly possible that one of the victims is the shooter," said Herren. Police are still treating it as an active situation and are still searching to make sure there are no more shooters or victims.

Update [11:30]: According to an LAPD press release, officers found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Sources tell reporters on the scene that police have found a handgun and a suicide note.

Update [11:05]: The LAPD have confirmed that two people are dead.

Update [10:50]: UCLA officials confirm that two people have been shot. CNN reports that both the FBI and ATF are responding to the scene.

Shortly before 10 a.m., Wednesday morning, a campus-wide BruinAlert was sent to students and staff about a shooting in Engineering Building IV. All people are being asked to shelter in place.

Few details are available about the shooting, but sources tell NBC News there are two victims. The LAPD is currently on city-wide tactical alert.
