The ... good? ... news: Caltrans says there won’t be any construction done over Labor Day weekend. The weekend lane closures started on Aug. 22 and will resume on Friday, Sept. 5. The closures run from 10 p.m. on Fridays through 5 a.m. the following Mondays.

What are the alternatives?

Caltrans says drivers can seek alternative routes and use public transportation. Alternate routes include:

  • Santa Monica Boulevard to the northbound 405 Freeway: Travel east on Santa Monica Boulevard and north on Sepulveda Boulevard to the on-ramp to the northbound 405 at Moraga Drive.
  • Sunset Boulevard to southbound 405: Travel north on Church Lane, south on Sepulveda Boulevard, west on Santa Monica Boulevard to the on-ramp to the southbound 405.

Caltrans says the weekend lane closure schedule is subject to change based on weather and other factors, including the times and dates of the closure and the number of lanes closed.
