Tell Us Your Postpartum Story -- The Good, The Ghastly And The Mesh Underwear

Prenatal care and information tend to focus heavily on labor with less emphasis on what happens after birth. We want to hear from you. (Photo: kevin liang/Unsplash)

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

By Lisa Brenner and Stefanie Ritoper

Whether it was all glowing light and rainbows, or an unhinged horror show, every postpartum phase has a story.

The first weeks after giving birth are REAL. Your body hurts in places you didn't know were even places. Sleep deprivation sets in (though tbh you probably stopped sleeping well in the third trimester). And now there's a brand new tiny human in your house that you have to keep alive. Forever.

Wanna talk about it?

We're compiling resources and stories for an upcoming article.

We want to hear about your experiences, from physical recovery, to breastfeeding efforts, to the emotions -- and everything in between. What resources were available to you? Do you have any advice to share with new moms or parents-to-be?

Fill out the form below and KPCC/LAist engagement producer Stefanie Ritoper will read every response. We will not share anything publicly without your permission.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
