'Talk to Me, Kajon': A Musical Ode to KCRW's Traffic Reporter

If you listen to KCRW during your evening commute, you know who Kajon Cermak is. Offering traffic updates with an upbeat and warm disposition often in contrast to the ugly bumper-to-bumper gridlock details she has to share with Angelenos, the reporter has been graced with a song in her honor, and that song is your video lunch today.

As the songwriter and fan explained on the song's YouTube page:

[O]ne day just as the KCRW air staff was introducing her, I said "Talk to me, Kajon," and for some reason that sounded like a song. By the time I got home, i had the chorus, and after a couple of hours of thinking about it, the three verses practically wrote themselves.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
