Around 4:00am on Saturday in the 4500 block of East Third Street an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was wounded during an altercation that resulted in a suspect being shot. The deputy and the suspect were both transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, reports KTLA.
According to an LASD press release, the off-duty officer was stabbed during the incident and is currently listed in stable condition at the hospital. The suspect is now listed in critical condition.
Homicide Investigators from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department are are investigating the circumstances of the incident. When a deputy-involved shooting occurs and a suspect is hit, multiple independent investigations begin at the scene and, once concluded, are reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee, notes the LASD.
