Street Closures Tomorrow Morning for Firefighter's Funeral

Tomorrow, the funeral for Los Angeles city firefighter Glenn Allen will be held Downtown at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The Los Angeles Police Department have advised that there will be hard and soft street closures in effect starting at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, February 25th to accommodate the funeral. The procession begins at 8:30 a.m. from City Hall, and services are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.Expect the streets in the immediate vicinity of the Cathedral to be closed or crowded during tomorrow morning's commute. The LAPD provided details regarding the following hard street closures:
- Temple Street between Grand Ave and Los Angeles
- Main Street between Temple and 2nd Streets
- Hill Street between 1st and Ord Streets
Additionally, other streets will experience soft closures, which means limited to no access:
- 1st Street between Los Angeles Street and Grand Avenue
- Grand Avenue between 1st Street and Hollywood Freeway onramp
- Grand Avenue between 1st Street and 3rd Street
Also included, verbatim, on the LAPD's list was this soft closure "West Ceasar* E. Chavez Avenue between 1st Street and 3rd Street"**Our notes: *Their spelling and **Not geographically possible. However, that did not stop the Daily News from running the list. We did not hear back from the LAPD in response to our request for clarification regarding the West Cesar Chavez Avenue closure.

The closures will also bring detours for a number of Metro bus routes. Affected lines include the 2, 4, 10 (Rte. 48), 14 (Rte. 37), 30, 40, 42, 45, 55 (Rte. 355), 60, 70, 71, 76, 78 (Rte. 79), 81, 83, 84 (Rte. 68), 90 (Rte. 91), 92, 94, 96. 439, 445, 485, 487 (Rte. 489), 728, 730, 733, 740, 745, 770, 794 and the 910.
