A crowd of hundreds of people wearing Halloween costumes are visible. In the right side of the picture, a traffic signal glows green with the walk sign. The San Vicente Blvd street sign is also visible.

Revelers in costumes of all kinds will be clogging the streets of West Hollywood from 6 to 11 p.m. this Halloween night for the popular annual Carnaval, but that means street closures all day and overnight to make room for the festivities.

Some street closures are already in effect, though some will kick in later in the day. Here's a complete list, courtesy the City of West Hollywood:

  • San Vicente Boulevard between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard from 12 a.m., Wednesday, October 31 through 7 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012
  • Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard including all side streets from 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.
  • Robertson Boulevard between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard from 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.
  • Almont Drive and La Peer Drive are closed from Santa Monica Boulevard to Melrose Avenue from 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.
  • San Vicente Boulevard between Cynthia Street and Santa Monica Boulevard from 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.
  • Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega Boulevard and Holloway Drive/Croft Avenue from 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.
  • La Cienega Boulevard between Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard from 4 p.m., Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012. ***Northbound La Cienega Boulevard is open between Holloway Drive and Sunset Boulevard.
  • Sunset Boulevard eastbound and westbound turn lanes onto La Cienega Boulevard from 4 p.m., Wednesday, October 31 through 6 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012.

If you are planning to be part of the party, you'll be one of an estimated half-million dressed up people enjoying live entertainment on several stages, featuring live bands, DJs, a rock n' roll drag show, and of course the general spectacle and shenanigans. You might also want to study up on your parking options--WeHo kindly reminds everyone that meters are enforced, and should you park in neighboring Los Angeles, please observe that city's parking rules.

Be safe and have fun! And don't forget to email us your photos of you in your costume, or submit pics of Carnaval to our LAist Featured Photos pool on Flickr.
